How many devices can connect to a wireless router?

What should i look for when buying a router? I want to connect 2 other computers wireless to it. Do i need a special router or will any work? How many devices can connect to a wireless router?
252 devices - total between wired and wireless (usually only 4 wired ports). A lot more than the bandwidth can handle.

Look for Linksys - That's the only home-type router I use for commercial installations. (I use Cisco if the power is needed, but you don't want to have to bring the money to the store in cartons.) The WRT54GS is a very good router, if you can still find one (probably only at Wal-Mart now) but the WRT54GL is also good (it's pretty much the same router).

(You can buy cheaper, but after a few replacements it's not really cheaper. Some of my Linksys routers are so old it really doesn't pay to use them any more - but they still work.)

As with all wireless routers, keep it cool - they generate a lot of heat. (The top should barely be warm to the touch after hours of operation - the bottom may be a little warmer, but never even very warm. If it is, it's not getting enough air.)How many devices can connect to a wireless router?
my 铮匡? airport express is handling 11 computers nicely
You need a router that's made to transmit a wireless signal. The router will have antenna sticking out of it.

You'll also need a wireless internet card to put into your computer. If you've got a notebook, it should be built in. But if you want to hook it up to a desktop computer, you might need to buy one. Don't worry, they're not hard to install.
I am using Actiontec router from Verizon(about$59) it is not good brand but I can connect 4 PC by ethernet and 24 PCs wirelessly with very good speed.
with hubs and switches, I think that the top end is 254 work stations and with additional hubs, even more, but you really start to use up resources after about 24
