To connect wirelessly to the router in question, the router's owner would have to provide you with what type of router they have. There are several B, G, and N types. If they bought a 54G router, you need either a 54G adapter or a B/G/N adapter to connect to it at 54MBPS. If they bought a higher G router, you need a higher G adapter or get the B/G/N adapter.

A B/G/N adapter downgrades to the proper setting to communicate with what G router they have. Whether it's 54MBPS or a Rangemax G MIMO which is 256MBPS.

Also they need to give you access by adding their password to your OS settings to connect. How do I connect my laptop to a wireless router?
hi,

if you have wireless facility in your laptop just double click on that icon which does display on your right hand bottom screen. one you click it will open wireless network connection status there you need to click on view wireless networks once you click you can see lots of wireless connection around which your laptop has discovered. now select your home one - you can find the name on that router check. on router which says ssid that's network and that network you need to select on choose wireless network screen once you choose that and double click on it, it will ask you password that you can find on router it self its called wireless key.

Thanks
bring your laptop and connect with that internet entity...

it might connect.

or you could if your lap is internet computer[able to connect to other lap]

you could wirless with other lap.. like estimate beacon on your lap.
Right, get you laptop fairly close to the router first of all (this is so the signal from that router will be the strongest one you can detect)

Now goto the network connections icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. should be next to the pwoer icon but not always. It will look like two computer screens (one on top of the other), or something similar, and will most likely have a red x on it.

click that and select connect to a network, then look for the network with the highest signal (i.e. his), then click to connect to that one.

it will then ask you for a WEP key or some other W key. This is the security for the router/net connection.

The WEP key is printed on most routers, and will look different depending on the router, for example a sky one is FDBSIQPT, and a BT one is bbjjslkk4422m

NOTE: there may be two numbers on the router,

if one is the MAC address, then you want the other one :)

simply enter that into your computer and click connect, should then connect.

Then to test your internet connection make sure you try multiple browsers if one doesnt work.

Good Luck, hope this helped. If you need anymore help feel free to email me, my email is on my profile or you do it here http://tinyurl.com/spamnerd
Right click on the 2 computer monitors icon in the bottom right corner of your screen and select 'connect to a network' you should find at least one network. If you know the name of the router it will be helpfull to you. It will be a secure network you are looking for as it is password protected. Connect to it and it will ask you for the password which you should enter.
