Every wireless router is slightly different, so I do recommend reading the manual or start-up guide that came with the router. If you don't have that a phone call to the manufacturer of your router will get you someone who can walk you through the entire process, but I'll try to offer some tips.

Your basic setup will look like this:

Your internet is provided to you by your ISP via a Cablemodem, DSL modem or other interface with an Ethernet (RJ45) connection. I'll call that device the modem. You will want to connect the ';Uplink'; port of your router to this connection on the modem.

Most routers have both Ethernet and Wireless capabilities. Some routers have default settings where all you need to do is enable the wireless on your computer and pick the wireless network (usually named the same as the manufacturer).

Other routers require that you connect a PC via the cable first and connect that way to perform the initial setup.

The router can be set up one of two ways. You can either run the software on the CD provided with the Router, or you can navigate to a specific web site for the router's internal page. You can check your computer's network settings for a ';default gateway'; which is often the address of the configuration page (i.e. with a gateway of 192.168.0.1, you would go to http://192.168.0.1/ in Internet Explorer or any web browser.

Once your in the router, you'll want to enable wireless (if necessary), name your wireless network, and turn on security. I recommend using WPA or WPA2 for proper security. It will have you enter a password which you'll need to enter on wireless computers in order to connect.

At this point your wireless network should be up and running and you'll be able to connect using your password from any wireless computers.

The process varies greatly depending on the specific hardware you have so again I recommend calling the manufacturer. I'll provide some manufacturer phone numbers below for convenience.

Good luck and I hope this helps! How to set up a wireless network using a router?
Make sure your router has Wifi and if it does just scan for your network and if it ask you for your WEP key just put it in their and thats it
jesus is rite. if you don't know the wep/wpa key simply use a paperclip and reset the router, this will unlock any security key.....keep in mind your router will be unsecured
well firstt i you need to put the cord into your laptop so that the router can recongize the laptop...read the directions 2
