How do I add a computer to an already working router through wireless connection?

We just got a secondary computer, and I need to hook up the internet through the router on the main computer. I am using a D-Link router. What do I need to do in order to acess the internet? How do I add a computer to an already working router through wireless connection?
The router doesn't matter.

What you need to do is turn on the computers wireless switch, then select ';Search for available networks';.

Once your network comes up, select ';connect';.

At that point you will be prompted for thr access code.

Find the code (located some where on the router), enter it, then click ';connect'; again.

Once the code is verified you will be good to go.How do I add a computer to an already working router through wireless connection?
If you're router is wireless, just configure it.

If it's not wireless, you can't.
Is your router a wireless router? (it has one or two antennas if it is)

Does your new computer have a wireless adapter? (usually has an antenna at the back, or it's a device with an antenna that plugs into a USB port) If not, you'll need to purchase one. One can be had for cheap (20$)
If you are going to go wired, then just plug an Ethernet PATCH cord from one of the LAN ports on the router to the LAN port on the new computer. If you have not messed with any of the network settings on the new machine, you should connect and go!

If you are going wireless, that's a little more work.

Is you current router a wireless router or just a wired router? I'm assuming it's just a wired router.

You will need to purchase ONE of the following:

A. A wireless access point that you plug into the router. It nowconnects to computer #2 over wireless. Read the manual and set up security on the access point. That way you don't give away free internet (and your security) to the neighborhood.

B. A new wireless router - REPLACE (You can't have 2 active routers on one network) your old router with a new wireless router to allow the second machine to connect

Read the Manual

Connect the first machine with an Ethernet cable

Use it to set up the new router

Enable the security (Use WPA)

Then hook up the second machine

Good Luck
