What is a wireless router and how does it work?

Just recently, my sister ordered a DSL internet service package from a telephone company and she just mentioned to me about getting a wireless router. Would something like that be required for DSL? I also wanted to know what it does. Please explain it to me in great detail. Any answer is very much appreciated.What is a wireless router and how does it work?

This would depend on the device that the Internet service provider (or telephone co.) sends out to you. For example, Verizon offers a modem/wireless router combo..this means that a separate wireless router is generally not necessary.



If the modem that the Internet service provider sends out does not have wireless capability, then you could pick one up for pretty cheap. Here is an exmaple:
