How do you set up security on a router with two laptops - could anyone give me steps to?

My roomate just moved in and I'm trying to set up the security on my Belkin router. I've had the router set up and running now for several weeks with no security.

I'm confused as to whether the software for the security will run through one computer or if I have to put the software on both?

Could anyone give me steps? I've read the manual but honestly it's all foreign to me. I'm horrible at anything electronic. How do you set up security on a router with two laptops - could anyone give me steps to?
Plug your computer into the router with an ethernet cable. Run the CD that is included with your router and it will take you through some set up steps. One of these steps will set up an opportunity to set up a password. Once you have a password set up, it will ask you for it when you go to access the router. You will have the opportunity to save it on your computer, so you really only have to do it once

If all else fails, I'll come over and fix it for a small non-monetary price ;-)How do you set up security on a router with two laptops - could anyone give me steps to?
read read and read. The router will have ';help available'; all over the place. I dont recommend using others help because it can get very complicated. Basically there is a password and then a quiple of types of security. People can get software off the internet to by pass the security. Use the high security for best results. You have to have the router ip address and enter it into the Http:// as you would a regular internet site. There may even be a simple way with the program itself. Only one computer is needed for the software.
