You won't have a problem with a modem-router combo, almost all modems are compatible with all routers as long as they both have ethernet WAN ports. I would be more concerned about your DSL modem working on the Chinese ';Internet';. If I were you I would get a hold of whatever Chinese ISP you plan on using when you get to China and ask if your modem will work on their network. I lost my ipod touch. I know it is somewhere static. I know it accessed my gmail account at about 7:30. Is there a way that i can tell how far from the wireless router that signal was sent? If i knew the distance then there would be a circle of places that it could be, right? Any program or application within the router. I'd bet on 50 to 75 feet, but its hard to tell. I mean if its through lots of thick walls, it could be much closer. If its in a wide open barn, it could be much farther away. If you're sure it is within your router range, I'd just start looking around everywhere.

I know a guy who swears there are Lorenz invariences (Non-Einsteinian gravitational nonconformities) around seat cushions which cause all manner of things to get sucked in, and while I disagree about the physics, I can't discount the fact that lots of stuff seems to get under seat cushions, with little rational explanation. The laundry hamper is a good place to check too, as long as it doesn't end up wherever the disappearing socks go.

I have a NETGEAR WNR834Bv2 Wireless N router. My mom's computer is on the other side of the house, and has a N wireless card. 1) put cd into computer
2) if you have a flash drive, just copy all the files onto the cd (go to ';My Computer';, click open onto the cd and click and copy all the files on that cd)
3) After go back to your computer and plug in the usb drive and then click open the folder that you copied the files into and then check for a program inside of a folder that like an application, it should have be an ';.exe'; type of file and after that it will start installing

2) if you have a flash drive, just copy all the files onto the cd (go to ';My Computer';, click open onto the cd and click and copy all the files on that cd)
3) After go back to your computer and plug in the usb drive and then click open the folder that you copied the files into and then check for a program inside of a folder that like an application, it should have be an ';.exe'; type of file and after that it will start installing

I have 1 computer downstairs connected to the router directly. My computer is the furthest room away and i want to connect to wired connection for faster internet. Is there a way of connecting my computer to router without running cables all the way to it? My internet isn't brilliantly fast but i think it could be improved by wired instead of wireless which is what it is on at the moment.How do i connect my computer to router WITHOUT running wires everywhere?
Its actually very easy. All you need is a pair of Powerline Adapters which use the electric wiring to send the LAN signals around the wires in your home. You plug 1 adapter into the mains and connect the Ethernet cable from the adapter to a spare port on your router. The other adapter, you plug into a mains socket in another room and use an Ethernet cable to connect that to the LAN port on your computer. Job done - quick wired connection, and cheap. If I understand your question you want to have a wired connection without wires. This is a physical imposibility. If you want a wired connection you run wires.
You can run fiber instead of copper wires but that is probably overkill and more expensive.
If you can describe how to run a wired network without wires, I would love to know how it is done.
